My Great Pyrenees mix vomited, won't eat, and has worms. What to do?

The most likely diseases are as follows: 1. Parvo, a virus that primarily attacks the immune system and intestines of dogs and is very lethal if left without supportive care. 2. Intestinal parasites which can cause intestinal blockage and even anemia (depletion of red blood cells). 3. Other viruses with varying severities. This is not an exhaustive list, just the most common things for a puppy. They will all lead to dehydration and other secondary issues which can all be severe enough to cause death. Whatever the underlying disease, he looks very ill and needs attention from a veterinarian immediately. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sakari! If Sakari is not eating and vomiting when drinking she needs to see a Veterinarian. She is so small at just 4 lbs that she is at risk for dehydration and low blood sugar. When dogs defecate blood that indicates colon inflammation and also indicates that severe dehydration is even a higher risk. Sakari may have such a high worm burden that all the worms dying are causing stomach and intestinal inflammation or they are causing an obstruction. She also could have something else going on, especially if she isn't vaccinated, like parvo virus or another viral or bacterial infection. The best thing for Sakari is to see a Vet today for supportive care. I wish you the best!

Ideally he should be seen by a vet to stabilise his condition and correct dehydration as well as supplemental feeding and a full health check to rule out additional illnesses reducing his appetite. Consider surrendering him to your local shelter to get him the best care. In the meantime an oral worm dose carefully dosed for his weight from your vets office or pet store, pedialyte and a mousse textured high calorie recovery or puppy food is recommended

Vomiting and diarrhea can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

It sounds as Sadie is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to an intestinal worm infestation. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. If the vet thinks she needs deworming he will do that too. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

I would recommend a broad spectrum deworming to see if that helps. Then, if it hasn’t been done yet I would run some blood work. If that is normal then I would encourage you to have her stomach and intestinal tract biopsied. Are you planning to spay her? If so I would recommend discussing the possibility of obtaining biopsy samples at the time of spay. This is something I have done frequently.
