Puppy has white eye spots & only eats veggies. Is his diet the cause?

I recommend taking Shinzo to a vet so they can look at his stools under a microscope. It is likely he has intestinal parasites and they will need to know which ones to get him on the correct medications. They will be able to discuss his current diet and recommend something else if it is not adequate. Good luck and kisses to Shinzo!

The skin changes could be due to allergies or skin parasites, but the recent diet change could also be to blame. I would recommend feeding a commercial kibble with 10% or less of the diet made up of treats or table food. I don’t see anything unusual in your picture of Tripp’s eyes but I’d recommend having your vet examine his eyes in person to make sure. His skin could be examined at this visit as well.

If you could please repost with a picture of your pets eyes so that we can visualize this white spot that would help us a ton in providing our recommendation for Shiro moving foward. In general a white spot can indicate a corneal ulcer in most situations, which usually also causes eye discharge, redness of the sclera (white part of the eye), and discomfort (pawing at the face). Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concerns. The eyes look to be cataracts, which there is not much you can do for cataracts (medically). Surgically, you can have these removed but this procedure typically costs $3000 per eye in my experience. It is possible that the cataracts could be due to diabetes but without blood work, it is difficult to say. Even if this was due to diabetes, there is no reversing the condition once developed. The skin could be a skin infection or allergy. I would recommend using the following products, which can all be found online to see if this helps the skin. I hope this helps! Dozer could be suffering from serve allergies but lesions like this could also be signs of an autoimmune condition. Also, a bland diet is not a food trial. To rule out food allergies a food trial must be completed. A food trial will last for 8-12 weeks and during that time, Dozer CANNOT eat ANYTHING other than the diet. That means no treats, chewies or even flavored pet toothpaste. Food allergy is best ruled out with a diet trial using a hydrolyzed protein because it can rule out all types of food allergy. If there is not a positive response to the food trial in 8-12 weeks, I recommend to have the lesion biopsied to look for autoimmune disease. Dogs, cats and some other animals have a third eyelid which helps provide extra protection and lubrication to their eyes - could this be what you are seeing while he is sleeping? Simba's third eyelid appears to be in normal positioning in the photos, although if it is staying up after he wakes up, becomes swollen, if he begins squinting or pawing at his eye, if the white of his eye becomes red or he begins having discharge from his eye, I would recommend taking him in to the vet right away as this may indicate a problem with his eye. It sounds like you are feeding him often, which is good. I am not familiar with Milk Daliya or Chapatti. Make sure you are feeding him commercial AAFCO-approved puppy food and look at the instruction on the bag to make sure you are feeding him enough food for his age and body weight. If he is still not gaining weight despite feeding him appropriately, he could have another problem like parasites or a metabolic issue. I would recommend seeing your vet to make sure they are not finding any evidence of these problems. Simba is so cute, I wish him all the best!!

It’s hard to say what is exactly going on here but it does look very inflamed and possibly infected. If thenlesionnhas been there more than 2 days and/or is getting worse and is irritating to Doja I would recommend having it looked at by your veterinarian. She may need antibiotics to help it clear up. As far as food is concerned, I generally recommend Hills, Purina, Royal Canin, Iams or Eukanuba.
