My puppy has loose stool, isn't eating, and feels bony. Is it parvo?

My pup as started not eating today she is drinking and her stool is loose but it feels like I can feel all her bones she is stil playing but my other puppy had to be admitted to vets they don’t no if he as parvo or just a bad infection

Hi there! Sorry to hear that Pixie is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am afraid that Pixie may have the same disease that your other pup has which could be parvovirus. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Pixie evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on anti-diarrhea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

I would be very concerned about parvovirus since a littermate died and the virus is extremely contagious and can be fatal. If she is positive, I recommend hospitalization with IV fluid therapy and medications because this virus can cause severe dehydration in a puppy that young. If she is negative, I recommend they test her stool for microscopic parasite eggs. Why is my unvaccinated puppy not eating or drinking after class?

Oh no, poor Pixie! It's very concerning that she hasn't been eating and drinking as well as not being fully vaccinated. There is alway a chance that she picked up an illness from another dog. When a young puppy isn't eating, it's time to see a vet as soon as possible. If Pixie still isn't eating and drinking by the morning, take her into a vet right away. Tonight, try to tempt her to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice.

These types of conditions should not be treated at home. Raw egg does not prevent parvovirus. For this reason, I recommend that you have Saiko evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. Hi, has Pixel been treated for worms ? If not, he will need to be treated. To answer your question, feaces don’t look like typicical for Parvo. I would not worry about it but perhaps have his feaces checked for Giardia and other feacal parasites. Hope this helps !

Why is my 5-month puppy vomiting brown, pooping liquid, not eating?

So sorry to hear that Bubu is not feeling well! Puppies are very prone to intestinal parasites, and depending on which vaccines they have received, viral infections such as parvovirus. Bubu may have also eaten something he should not have which has blocked his intestinal tract or was toxic. He should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible as he is likely to become dehydrated very quickly as he loses fluids from vomiting and having diarrhea and not eating/drinking. His veterinarian will likely need to run some tests including blood work, a fecal exam, and take x-rays to determine the cause and prescribe medication to treat the condition. I hope Bubu feels better soon!
