Why is my 5-month puppy vomiting brown, pooping liquid, not eating?

Baily is so cute! I am concerned though that he is not eating and having such intestinal upset. I would recommend you take Baily in for an exam with your vet as soon as possible. Puppies this young can get dehydrated very quickly and become quite ill. I am worried about the possibility of intestinal parasites, eating something he shouldn't have (dietary indiscretion), or even a bacterial or viral infection (like parvovirus). Baily may need some tests to see what the underlying cause is, such as a parvo test and fecal test. He also may need some anti-nausea medication, antibiotics, or even fluid therapy if he is dehydrated. I hope he gets back on track quickly!

Poor Dexter! The vomiting and diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something he shouldn’t have, bacterial over growth, parasites or even an intestinal blockage. If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. If he has not eaten well for the past 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Puppies generally have a big appetite so when they aren't eating well, it's concerning for a more serious cause of illness. Some times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. It sounds as Baloo is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti nausea injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked. This could be from parvovirus or intestinal parasites. Since he’s so small and young I recommend a veterinary exam and treatment. He could get dehydrated quickly and that can become life threatening. They will test him for parvovirus and check for intestinal parasite. They will probably give him fluids to prevent dehydration and medication to control the diarrhea. This could be a number of things - parasites, a bacterial or viral GI infection, or even an intestinal blockage. At 2.5 months of age, Gus is especially at risk for parvovirus, a serious GI infection. We always worry about fluid loss in young puppies, so I would recommend getting him to a vet ASAP, to diagnose the cause of the vomiting, and start appropriate therapy.

I would bring a fresh stool sample with you so the vet can check for microscopic parasites. There are many different types of parasites that can cause diarrhea and there is no one medication to treat them all. They may also want to test Lieo for parvovirus as this is common in young puppies and causes vomiting and diarrhea. Either way, Lieo needs medical treatment to prevent further fluid loss which will lead to dehydration. Once they have a cause they can get him medications to help him recover.
