My puppy fell off the couch. She seems fine, what to watch for?

Given her age, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. X-rays may be indicated to rule out fractures. Restrict her activity to just leash walks for elimination. Avoid excessive running, jumping or rough play. Do not medicate her as many OTC drugs cannot be used in puppies or may be toxic to dogs.

At this stage, considering your description, she seems absolutely fine. I would recommend to monitor her for the next 8 hours and if you do not notice any sign (pain, lethargy, lameness, inappetence, vomiting, diarrhoea) there is no need for a vet check up.

Luckily puppies are very flexible and rarely get injured like adult dogs. Oliver may be sore tomorrow and if there is a problem it should show up by then. Please keep him quiet tonight and watch him for any symptoms. If it was a severe injury he would already be showing signs of a problem, such as unstable walking, lameness, disorientation or severe pain. Poor Winston! Given that he's walking fine, eating, and playing, I wouldn't rush him into a vet right away. There is a chance he could have suffering from some internal injuries from the fall, and I would monitor him for now. If he starts limping, stops eating, vomits, becomes very lethargic, or have any other changes in behavior from the normal, I would have him seen by a vet immediately.

Hello. Most likely the puppy is fine, but you might want to pick her up & do a little exam on her. Gently pull on each leg & make sure she pulls back evenly ( you might want to try this with a litter mate first to get an idea of what is normal ). Then see how she does when you place her back down. Does she wiggle in a normal manner back to mom. If she seems to react in a similar manner to her siblings, then she is probably fine. Newborns are pretty resilient. So I would watch for limping, stiffness or lethargy. But I would be surprised if she shows any symptoms. Good luck!
