My puppy has a dark spot on his testicle. Should I be concerned?

This really looks like it is most likely a harmless pigmented area. At this age pets get different colored spots on their skin because he is going through his maturation process. If it isn’t raised, swollen or has hair loss, then it is likely nothing to worry about and is just pigmentation. I would still mention it to your vet so they can look at it to verify. Its hard to tell from the picture, but it could be that the skin there on the scrotum has developed pigment over time, which sometimes happens; he's very young yet if the pet description is accurate (its telling me that Walter is 6 months old), and it may be normal. However, the skin also looks a bit thickened which could indicate that there is some inflammation and infection present. Call your vet and make an appointment to have it looked at to be sure. I don't think it is urgent as long as Walter isn't licking/chewing at it and is acting normally, but I would get him in at your convenience in the next couple of weeks.

Hello, Ralphs' skin patches are likely a variance of normal skin pigmentation that dogs may develop are they grow. I would only be concerned about these changes if they become raised or nodular, if they are painful, or if they have any discharge. Hi, yes this is a normal skin change for this area. If you feel the skin, it is also thickened, it is absolutely normal and could be due to the testicles lying on the ground/hard surface on repetitive occasions.

What you may be seeing is his bulbus glandis. They are two glands located at the base of the penis on both sides. They function during mating to effect the tie while mounting a female. This is normal and likely no cause for concern. The pigmentation of his scrotum may also be normal. You can have him seen by your veterinarian to discuss any concerns regarding either.

It is not unusual for the scrotum to darken slightly with age, but I agree that this is a marked change. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon to make sure there are no signs of infection or cancer. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

I can understand being worried, but cancer in a seven month old puppy would be extremely rare, so I don't think you need to worry about that! This black circle could be due to a skin infection or an injury. As long as Marley is behaving normally, eating and drinking, and going to the bathroom normally, there is no reason to rush to the vet tonight. I would have him seen by a vet in the next couple of days to have this area checked out. The vet can diagnose what is causing it and how best to treat it.
