Is a dark patch on my male dachshund's testicles a normal change?

Hello, Ralphs' skin patches are likely a variance of normal skin pigmentation that dogs may develop are they grow. I would only be concerned about these changes if they become raised or nodular, if they are painful, or if they have any discharge. Everything in the picture appears normal. the dark spot appears to be normal pigment in the skin of he scrotum. The skin can get more or less pigmented as they age, so this may be why you are just now noticing this. As long as the dark areas are not raised, crusty, or causing any other problems with the skin, then they are not concerning. Considering he is otherwise normal, I would not be concerned about this. It is really hard to tell by pictures if skin is normal. I think based on the photo that Ludo does have normal testicles. The testicles can have some pigment on them. However at anytime Ludo is not acting normal, itching, abnormal urination or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet to have them checked in person. hope that helps

Its hard to tell from the picture, but it could be that the skin there on the scrotum has developed pigment over time, which sometimes happens; he's very young yet if the pet description is accurate (its telling me that Walter is 6 months old), and it may be normal. However, the skin also looks a bit thickened which could indicate that there is some inflammation and infection present. Call your vet and make an appointment to have it looked at to be sure. I don't think it is urgent as long as Walter isn't licking/chewing at it and is acting normally, but I would get him in at your convenience in the next couple of weeks.

That is likely just a normal aging change. Make sure the testicles appear equal in size, are not painful or unusually hard. It is common for a male dog of 5-6 years to have a scrotum that is a bit "saggy"...,,,I am the surgeon at a spay and neuter clinic and we call them "danglers" as a bit of humor. I don't know what breed your dog is, but the larger breeds (lab, golden, German shepherd, American Bulldogs, etc.) seem to appear this way more commonly than smaller breeds, but it can happen to any breed.

What you may be seeing is his bulbus glandis. They are two glands located at the base of the penis on both sides. They function during mating to effect the tie while mounting a female. This is normal and likely no cause for concern. The pigmentation of his scrotum may also be normal. You can have him seen by your veterinarian to discuss any concerns regarding either.
