Should my new puppy's crate be moved to my bedroom at night?

I always recommend going with your gut but being open to modifying your plan based on the puppies personality. When I got my rescue dog at 9 months, my plan was to crate him downstairs but he barked and I couldn't sleep. So I brought him upstairs and he has slept on a dog bed on the floor ever since. I think you should list out what is acceptable and what isn't (allowed on the bed/furniture or isn't, crated or not crated) and then make that the goal and stick to it. Whether you have the crate in your room temporarily and then move it somewhere else can depend on how needy Samson is in the beginning. Are you willing to let him "cry it out" or not. I am a fan of trying to set up a routine early so they get used to that. He will be needy the first several days but then should start to adjust and you can get stricter. Congrats on your new puppy! Lilly's crate size should be big enough that she can turn around and lie down in it, but prevent her from going to the bathroom in it. If the space isn't too big, she will not go to the bathroom in it because she won't want to lay down in her own mess. I wouldn't put the pee pee pads in there, as you don't want her to learn to go to the bathroom where she sleeps. Given that she is so young, I would wake up at least once or twice in the night to let her out to potty. If you put the crate next to your bed, she will whine and cry all night to be let out, and you won't get any sleep. I would recommend keeping the crate in another room that is quiet and dark.

Hello. Crate training takes time, so keep persevering. That being said, expect dogs to be able to hold their bladders the number of months they are in terms of hours, as a general rule. They can hold it a little longer at night. Expect to have to wake up in the middle of the night to let him outside. Bring him outside, let him pee, then right back inside into the crate. No playing or else he will get used to that. The whining and barking should subside soon. HAve fun with him!

I would crate him at night since you cannot watch him and he is so young. Once you know that you can completely trust him (potty and getting into stuff) then I would say you can let him out of the carte and sleep with you. It is better not to let Doobie do that as he will get used to sleep with you and will prefer that rather than sleeping in his own place. This behaviour can then predispose to development of separation anxiety as well.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oreo. I would place him in the area you want him to sleep as an adult. If you start with clear expectations, it will help him to adjust. If he has a crate, place him in there on the very first night. You can add a bed or toys to comfort him. He may need you to comfort him several times throughout the night, but should adjust to his new surroundings. As far as potty training, puppies do not have full control over their bladder and bowel until at least 4 months of age. Prior to this age, you are trying to be consistent so he understands what he is to do when he is old enough. Take him to the same place outside every time. Give him a command such as "go potty" and give him a treat afterwards. Do not punish him for accidents. Just clean up the mess and move on. If you catch him going, tell him "no" and rush him outside. Give him his command and hopefully he will finish outside. This will help him to understand. I hope this information helps!

That all depends on the puppy. Crating tends to be safer because the puppy cannot get into potential harmful things. It also tends to help with house breaking.
