How do I handle my new puppy's accidents and first night sleep?

Have Bourbon examined by your vet to rule out medical causes such as UTI or congenital defects affecting his urinary tract. At his age, expect to Bourbon to still have "accidents". Reinforce crate training or choose one method of training and stick with it. If you choose the crate, it should only be big enough for Bourbon to stand, turn around and lay down. He can be crated for a maximum of 3 hours (age in months + 1 hour) before needing to go out. This includes overnights. Put him on a consistent schedule for going outside. He goes outside FIRST thing in the morning. Pick a spot outside and wait. No walks until he goes. Praise and reward him when he goes. Place him back in the crate or on a leash attached to your hip so you can watch for his cues to go. This may be circling, whining or sniffing around. Do not leave Bourbon unsupervised until he is house trained. He will need to go about 30 minutes after eating or playing. Take up the water 2 hours before bedtime and take her out right before bedtime. Be patient. Be consistent.

Establish where his eating and sleeping places will be, and keep his routine stable while he gets his bearings. I hope you have a crate for him! This should be his bed at night. He may cry the first few nights . . . it is VERY importand not to respond in any way (just be sure all his needs have been met before you put him in it). Crying means he is looking for attention, and even negative attention would be welcome. Do not give him any, or it will just make things worse. He may not eat at first. That is not unusual, as he may be nervous or anxious in his new home. Do not try to bribe him with foor or treats. When he is hungry, he will eat. Establish his bathroom area and take him to it frequently. Use a phrase like "Go outside!" and, if he does, repeat the phrase and praise him. If you catch him going in the house, do not let him finish. Take him outside and do as above. Keep him attached to you by his leash (you can slide it through your belt loop to keep your hands free). This way, you will know whyen he has to go (circling and sniffing) and get him right out the door. Never scold the dog for any bad behavior after the fact. Congratulations on your new puppy! I love his name! I see no problem with moving his crate to your room when you go to bed as long as he is remaining in the crate when he sleeps to avoid accidents. This is typical puppy behavior and will likely resolve once Eva is potty trained more as she gets older. Using Puppy pads and keeping her in a crate through the night may help with this behavior. I would not let her sleep in the bed until she can get herself down if needed. A lot of puppies get injured by being in the bed too young as they try to jump off and break a leg or fall off on accident for being clumsy. It is safest for her to stay in a kennel. As far as potty training goes, once she no longer has accidents in the house and tells you when she needs to go outside both at night and in the day, then she can be trusted to sleep in the bed without having an accident. Most are trained by 4 months of age

Congrats on your new puppy! Lilly's crate size should be big enough that she can turn around and lie down in it, but prevent her from going to the bathroom in it. If the space isn't too big, she will not go to the bathroom in it because she won't want to lay down in her own mess. I wouldn't put the pee pee pads in there, as you don't want her to learn to go to the bathroom where she sleeps. Given that she is so young, I would wake up at least once or twice in the night to let her out to potty. If you put the crate next to your bed, she will whine and cry all night to be let out, and you won't get any sleep. I would recommend keeping the crate in another room that is quiet and dark.

50 days old is still extremely young and Hachiko probably isn't old enough to hold his potty very long yet. He will likely need to go out at least every 1-2 hours, and about 10-15 minutes after eating, drinking, playing, and waking up. You can use this to your advantage to start taking him outside to go potty before he has an accident so he learns to go outside. If you want him to go in a certain area, then use these times to take him to that spot so he learns to go there.
