How much and how often should I give Pedialyte to my dog with Parvo?

You can offer the pedialyte in a bowl several times a day. If he is refusing to drink from the bowl then you can syringe 10-20mls every 2 hours or so into his mouth. Be sure to do it slowly so there is no risk of aspiration. You can offer him water at the same time as well. If he is significantly dehydrated however you will need to have fluids administered by your vet, either via IV or subcutaneously. I hope this helps. Is she is not having any fluid loss (diarrhea or vomiting) she should have about 40 oz in 24 hours. If she is having loss still then she needs the 40 Oz PLUS the amount she lost. 1/2 cup is 4 oz. so if no loss and you are doing 1/2 cup hourly for at least 12 Hours of the day you should be pretty good. The poops look good for a dog with parvo. They should continue to get more solid as Oreo continues to recover. If he wants water, you can give him a bowl of water. I would only offer a few ounces at a time to avoid causing nausea. You can offer a few ounces of water or pedialyte every 2 hours. You can also start to offer moist food in small "meatball" sizes every 2 hours.

Poor guy. Yes you sure can give him Pedialyte but only the non-flavored kind diluted 50:50 with water. You can use a syringe or small turkey baster to given it to him if he doesn't take it readily. You can give him as much as he will take readily (probably around 20cc's) and offer it every 4 hrs or so. Poor guy I hope Oliver feels better soon. Take care.

Honestly it is better to give plain water however, if you do give Pedialyte you need to make sure you dilute it first. The electrolyte amounts in Pedialyte are made for humans and not animals and it also has a lot of sugar!! To dilute it: mix equal amounts of water and pedialyte together (ex: 1 cup of pedialyte with 1 cup of water). At 10 pounds, Poppy can have about 1 to 1.5 cups of the mixture per day - divide that into small amounts every 30-60 minutes. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

You may try offering a small amount (1/8 of a cup) several times daily. Vomiting can be rapidly dehydrating in young small puppies, so it can be hard to correct dehydration alone with oral liquids.
