How much should my 11-month-old English Golden Retriever weigh?

Hello. Your picture seems to show a very healthy young dog, but without being able to feel how prominent the ribs & backbone can be palpated, it is impossible to ascertain his condition. A dog, under a year of age, should have some muscle & fat protecting the underlying skeletal structure. With just a little pressure, you should be able to feel ribs & backbone, not sharp points. That is a better way to tell than just by weight because size & bone structure can affect things. If there is a fairly good layer of flesh on your dog, he should be just fine. Because Ghontu is a Golden Retriever, her full weight can be between 65-75 pounds. At about five months of age (19 weeks), she should be around 3/4s of her full grown weight, and her weight of 46 pounds is normal. It is expected that she will continue to grow every day, and I would not be concerned about her weight.

Aww Eva is so cute! She looks to be at a healthy weight for her size. As with people, not all puppies grow at the same rate and it’s not always linear - they have growth “spurts” just like people. Also, not all Goldens are built the same- some are petite and slim, some are beefier. Most important is that she is a healthy weight for her frame. He still has plenty of time to grow. He may not be fully grown until after 12 months of age. There is some thought that early neutering can decrease total growth potential. If you are concerned that he is not growing appropriately, I would recommend that you have Bran examined by his veterinarian. The vet will evaluate his diet and do an exam to see if there is something we can change to help him meet his full growth potential. But, just like in humans, there is no magic treatment to make them taller!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ideal weight is based on more than age and breed. Skeletal frame is also important. Posting a picture of Luna would be helpful. On AVERAGE a 3 month female golden puppy should weigh around is between 16 and 22 lbs. It is hard to make puppies fat. I recommend using the bag label for feeding instructions. If she is too thin (see hip bones and can see and easily feel every rib) increase the amount of food and if she is too fat (can't easily feel ribs and no waist) then decrease it some. A maintenance diet would be 1 cup (8 ounces) of dry food per 30lbs body weight daily. For example, if Rooney weighs 60lbs then he would need 2 cups of food daily. This amount can be adjusted up or down based on activity, body weight and body condition.
