How much Royal Canin for my 3-month Golden puppy & ideal weight?

Unfortunately I can not make a recommendation about food amounts until I know how much she weighs and if she is underweight or ideal weight. You an repost with this information if you like. I do actually recommend doing the Royal Canin “Puppy” until she is about 8-10 months old- then you can switch her to the “Junior”. In general, the guidelines on the back of the bag are a good place to start but If she seems too thin or too fat, you can adjust up or down. Most German Shepherd puppies of this age are eating 3-6 cups daily but it depends on her size and how fast she is growing and if she needs to gain weight. A last note. Even if you cannot afford Royal Canin all the time, she needs to be on some kind of puppy food as much as possible. Chicken and rice ok for short term or occasional use but is MUCH too low in calcium for a puppy. I’d rather you mix a cheaper puppy food with the Royal Canin (or all the time) than have her on chicken and rice too much. I hope this helps and best wishes to you and your pup!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Mocha seems to be on the small size for a 2 month Golden. On average they are around 10 lbs at that age. The smallest can be around 5 and the largest around 17 pounds. The amount she is eating seems appropriate for her size. Have a great day!

I highly recommend that you have Daisy evaluated by her veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check what may be wrong so that it can addressed. Best of luck!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Browny can eat any dog food diet that is formulated for puppies/growth, and ideally for large-breed dogs. Highly recommended brands include Royal Canin, Purina, and Hills, but other well known companies such as Pedigree are also appropriate. As long as the diet is not vegan, vegetarian or grain free, any puppy dog food diet should be OK. The dog food bag should have a feeding chart on it that outlines how much food Browny should be fed with each meal, based on her weight. I hope this is helpful!

Determine how much to feed a puppy can certainly be quite confusing! I'm glad to hear that you are offering Bourbon food four times per day. In another month, you can decrease his feeding to three times a day, and eventually twice per day. The Royal Canin Maxi Starter food is great for growing puppies! By 2 months of age, Bourbon should be able to start chewing through dry kibble, so you can start to wean him off of the water soaked kibble over the next few weeks. Cerelac is not a necessary component of any dog's diet, so I would recommend stopping that and strictly feeding the balanced puppy food. Based upon the feeding guide for your puppy food, Bourbon should eat around 250 - 260 gm per day, meaning that he should eat around 60 - 65 gm per meal. I would recommend a good quality large breed puppy formula such as Royal canin or iams. Feed twice daily. Amount varies by nutritional content of the food so follow label directions on how much to feed. Good luck with your pup!
