Is my 11-month-old Golden Retriever puppy's 55lb weight healthy?

Hi Fred! Male Neutered Golden Retrievers should weigh between 65-75 pounds. 90lbs may be a little overweight for Milo. You should be able to easily feel Milo's ribs but not see them. When you look from above, he should be an hourglass shape. When you look at Milo from the side while he stands, his midsection should have an upward slope. Extra supplements can mean extra calories for Milo, so I would talk to your primary are veterinarian about the possibility of starting Milo on particular supplements based on his need and medical history. From the picture, it appears that Luna is at an adequate weight for her age. As she grows, her weight will fluctuate. Without examining her it is difficult to say for sure but if her ribs are too prominent, this typically means she is underweight. As long as you are feeding for what the bag of dog food recommends for her age, she should gain weight normally. Again, let me emphasize that at times, while puppy's are growing, they may seem underweight when in actuality they are going through rapid growth which will slow down and the weight will eventually catch up to a normal body weight. It looks like his weight and body condition are good, though its difficult to evaluate that without being able to put my hands on him. (the hair can be deceiving) . When you run your hands over his chest you should be able to feel his ribs easily but they should not be prominent. When you run your hands along the sides of the abdomen back to the hips, you should be able to appreciate a "waist," but the bones of his hips should not be prominent. His spine (backbones) over his lower back should not be easy to feel. Without a walk-on scale like your vet has in his office, the best way to weigh him is by picking him up and weighing yourself on a bathroom scale. Then subtract your weight. (please be careful!! Aww Eva is so cute! She looks to be at a healthy weight for her size. As with people, not all puppies grow at the same rate and it’s not always linear - they have growth “spurts” just like people. Also, not all Goldens are built the same- some are petite and slim, some are beefier. Most important is that she is a healthy weight for her frame.
