Why is my dog weak, swaying, and sleeping after being outside?

This is very strange. Your description sounds like he may have ingested something that was not good for him. This could be anything from marijuana thrown over the fence to herbicide, or similar. I suggest you take him to a pet ER right away for an exam, possibly for making him regurgitate whatever he may have eaten, although it may be too late for that. Of course there may be other causes, but without a hands-on exam it is not possible to find a cause. Your dog will at least need some supportive treatment.

This sounds like she may have a severe injury or balance problem. I strongly recommend an urgent vet check to identify and treat the source of her pain and discomfort as these are not normal behaviors

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would be worried about a few things regarding Bindi with what you are describing. One possibility if a bleeding tumor. If Bindi is older (>4-5 years old) this becomes more likely. You can look at her gums to see if they are pink or white. Otherwise, it is possible she got into a toxin (like marijuana) which can make her sleeping, be normal when 'roused' but otherwise be very flat and tired. If she is dribbling urine this is more likely. There are many other conditions as well. I would suggest calling the clinics in your area and finding one that does out of hours calls to see if they could see you. There are many other causes for her clinical signs, and without seeing her or knowing more it is hard to narrow it down. Best of luck with Bindi.

Yes, this certainly sounds suspicious for some type of toxicity. It's common for dogs to act like this with marijuana toxicity, in my experience, but ingestion of certain medications or other drugs could also cause symptoms like this. I would recommend taking your pup to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as this could be a serious problem depending on exactly what she might have gotten into, and how much. The vet there can do blood work or urine testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

For example, this can go from just her being really tired to her being ill. Some things that can cause weakness include anemia, inflammatory conditions, among other possibilities. If she is otherwise doing well (eating and drinking well, etc) I recommend that you continue to watch her closely. If this behavior continues by tomorrow, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If she worsens tonight then definitely have her examined before. Good luck! Any abrupt change in demeanor or behavior should be checked by a vet as soon as possible. Sometimes this is the only way our pets can tell us something is wrong. Hiding and not wanting to be touched can indicate pain or discomfort. She could have a hidden injury you weren't aware of, she could have an infection of some kind, eaten something that didn't agree with her, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will do an exam, labwork and probably x-rays and based on these results will be better able to tell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

Without any further information or clinical signs there are an infinite number of problems that could be going on. If she is weak and swaying then this could be a life threatening emergency and she should be seen immediately. If there is any chance that she has been exposed to any toxins, prescription medications, or recreational drugs please make sure to tell the veterinarian what she may have had access to. After a physical examination the veterinarian may have more of an idea about the potential problem. They may recommend lab work or an x-Ray to give them more information.
