Why is my dog suddenly lethargic, losing balance, and sleeping deeply?

I'm sorry to hear that Oscar isn't feeling well. The symptoms you describe are very concerning to me. It may be that he has a neurologic disease, or (especially if he's older) he may a tumor which has started to cause some internal bleeding. Though his gums are pink, this is still possible. Is there any chance he got into something in terms of a possible toxin? If he will get up and walk to you, and he responds to his name each time, and will eat and drink; it is reasonable to wait until morning if you don't have a vet emergency center near you. If he is unable to rise on his own, if he won't respond to his name, if he's vomiting, seems painful, or if he seems to be getting worse at all, please seek an emergency veterinarian. For example, this can go from just her being really tired to her being ill. Some things that can cause weakness include anemia, inflammatory conditions, among other possibilities. If she is otherwise doing well (eating and drinking well, etc) I recommend that you continue to watch her closely. If this behavior continues by tomorrow, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If she worsens tonight then definitely have her examined before. Good luck! Hello. It sounds like she may have had a mild episode of a condition called Vestibular Syndrome, an imbalance in the inner ear(s). If it has been a while since she saw a vet, it would not be a good idea to have her checked out. At this age, 2chainz is considered a senior citizen & things can begin to change. A good wellness exam & geriatric bloodwork is highly recommended to make sure she is as healthy as possible going into her "golden" years. Hello Aim. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sorry that Cooper is not well. This is definitely not normal. Dogs do get something called vestibular disease (a king of vertigo) that can throw their balance off but it usually happens in older dogs. I have never seen it in a 4 year old dog. I would be very worried that he may have ingested something toxic. I really think you should get him examined by a vet as soon as possible.

Synis experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Syn.

If they are then he could be having a vestibular event. The most common cause is a middle ear infection (under the ear drum) that causes inflammation of the peripheral nerve that control balance. Other causes could be more serious: stroke, seizure, brain tumor, metabolic issues or bleeding that is causing weakness. Harley should see your Vet ASAP this morning for an exam.
