Why is my Great Dane vomiting with liquid poop and swollen anal glands?

I suggest a vet check up for Mia. The diarrhea and vomitting may be due to dietary indiscretions, parasites or viral. Even though she has received preventative care, parasites or infection such as parvo or corona is still possible.

It sounds as Thandi is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It would help to have more information about how she is acting, but one of the first things that all vets worry about in a giant breed dog with a swollen abdomen is called a GDV (gastric dilatation volvulus, or "bloat"). This is a very serious problem in which the stomach becomes filled with air or fluid and twists on itself. Affected dogs often have a visibly swollen abdomen, and may also act restless and uncomfortable, pant a lot, and try to vomit frequently. If you think that this could be consistent with how Rosie is acting, I would recommend taking her to an emergency vet immediately, since affected dogs will die in a matter of hours without treatment - GDV is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate surgery to treat.

It sounds like Ellie could have diarrhea and that's why she's straining. She could also be constipated but it's not common in dogs. This sounds like he’s in pain. He could have back pain from a bulging intervertebral disc, or be constipated, or have hip pain. This sounds serious so I recommend a veterinary exam soon. With bloat they look bloated and they go from fine to very distressed in a few hours and then it’s life threatening. If this has been going on longer without a swollen abdomen then bloat is less likely. Regardless, he’s in pain and needs veterinary care. I would recommend taking Avery to an emergency veterinarian as soon as possible. It sounds like you could be describing an unproductive retch which is a sign of gastric dilation and volvulus (GDV) also known as bloat. GDV is very common in Great Danes and can quickly become fatal if not addressed right away. Of course it's also possible that she is simply gagging or coughing but in my opinion it is much better to be safe and have a veterinarian rule out GDV. They may recommend an x-ray to look at Avery's stomach position.

While this is possible, it is unlikely based on what you have described. He could be experiencing inappetence due to conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Enzo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment if this does not improve in the next 24 hours.
