My dog vomited orange-brown gooey liquid with granules. What's wrong?

Poor Bear! This could indicate bleeding within his G.I. tract. That could be caused by also's, toxins, some cancers as well as infections. Because bleeding in the G.I. tract can cause severe anemia and even death I recommend Bear be examined by his veterinarian or emergency veterinarian tonight. Do not offer him any food or water or any human medications until he is examined by his veterinarian. You should monitor his gums for paleness as well as his abdomen for any pain or distention.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bear! He is probably uncomfortable if he keeps getting up and rearranging himself. With the vomiting it makes me think his belly hurts and he is nauseous and that is why he can't rest comfortably or eat. Possible causes of vomiting, not eating and an uncomfortable belly are: pancreatitis, a foreign body that is stuck, inflammation of the stomach or intestines from viral or bacterial infections or from eating something that doesn't agree with him. I recommend that you take Bear to your Vet as soon as you can. Based on their physical exam they may want to do blood work and X-rays of his belly. Based on the results they will know how best to get him better! I hope this helps and good luck!

That does not appear to be a normal color for vomit. Vomit is usually yellow-ish, the color of the food or brownish. That makes me worried that Bear got into something causing that abnormal discoloration. The smell could be related to whatever it was he ate or indicate that the gut is not moving. I recommend to get Bearr examined today and try to take in a sample of the vomit if possible. Especially with young puppies, it’s always better to be safe. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, refuses to eat the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I don't think you need to bring her in. I think that the pineapple being orange has to do with in being in the stomach. And since the stool is brown inside that is normal. Just watch her closely for any diarrhea or continued vomiting with or with out blood. And If she isn't acting normal or not eating then I would have her seen. Good luck!

Vomiting is a very common symptom in animals and can be caused by something going on with the GI tract or any other organ system. If the tubular structure is grass it is possible he vomited that up after eating a large amount of it or if he previously ate something and defecated it out. Sometimes pets can vomit after straining to defecate as well. One of the main concerns with vomiting in animals is foreign body obstruction, which can be an emergency. The character of that vomit is concerning. The best plan would be for him to see your vet for an exam. Bloodwork to rule out extra GI causes and xrays are likely to be recommended as the first steps. Organge poops are concerning for possible liver disease (the yellow colour suggests the liver is not working as well), and diarrhea is concerning as well. Not wanting to eat like normal is also a sign of not feeling well. You can try him on a bland diet of boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breasts and boiled rice to see if it is just a gastritis that has thrown off his gut, otherwise I would suggest getting bloodwork done to see if his liver is OK.
