Why is my dog vomiting, not eating, and can't get comfortable?

Since it has been more than a day that Bear has not eaten, I recommend taking him to the vet. It could be anything from not liking his original food, to an upset stomach, to something more serious like pancreatitis, a foreign object, oral pain etc. Your vet can perform a full physical exam and decide if additional diagnostics are warranted at that time (blood work, fecal testing, radiographs). If Bear has any vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy- I would recommend taking Bear in sooner to the vet.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Bear may have eaten something he wasn’t supposed to such as garbage, human food, or pieces of a toy. You should keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t vomit again. If Bear continues to vomit, develops diarrhea or is not acting quite like himself, he should be seen by his vet as he may require medication and supportive care. In the meantime, I would hold off on giving Bear any food for about 12 hours and then reintroduce his normal diet slowly (about 1/2 his normal serving) I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

If Buddy seems off and is whimpering and vomiting, he may have something going on causing him discomfort. Because of his age, I would be suspicious of a viral infection, something he ate that he is having an indiscretion to or a foreign object he ate that is lodged somewhere in his intestines causing problems. Because there are multiple causes and it is difficult to determine what it is for sure, I would have a veterinarian examine Buddy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It is recommended to take LIttle Bear to the veterinarian to be evaluated. There are many different causes of vomiting. He may have a gastrointestinal upset, Pancreatitis, Foreign Body, etc. Your veterinarian will be able to do a complete physical examination and determine if any and what diagnostics are needed. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry Grizzly is sick! Grizzly really needs to see a Vet, I am sorry that it isn't possible. The crying when changing positions is likely from pain/discomfort. Possible causes for lethargy and vomiting are: ate something that is stuck in his intestines or stomach that would require surgery to remove, an intussusception (also require surgery), viral infections like parvo virus, intestinal parasites, food intolerance or dietary indiscretion, toxin ingestion. The only thing you can do at home is to keep him warm and comfortable. Slowly dribble water and liquid puppy food in his mouth as long as he can swallow. Try to avoid human foods. Keep trying to convince your parents to allow you to take him to the Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you and Grizzly the best

Hi there. It sounds like Bear just has a gastrointestinal upset. It could be from a parasite or something that he ate and wasn’t supposed to. I would recommend having him seen by your bed so they can prescribe something to settle his stomach and make him feel better right away. Puppies can get dehydrated and hypoglycemic when they don’t eat so senior bed as soon as you can would be a good idea. Best to you and Bear.

Vomiting and inappetence can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am concerned that he could be showing signs of an obstruction which is something that requires therapy which sometimes includes surgery. I recommend that you have Jager evaluated by a veterinarian at this point for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Good luck and have a good night!
