My dog threw up orange pineapple and has black poop. Is it serious?

You should keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t vomit again. If Bear continues to vomit, develops diarrhea or is not acting quite like himself, he should be seen by his vet as he may require medication and supportive care. In the meantime, I would hold off on giving Bear any food for about 12 hours and then reintroduce his normal diet slowly (about 1/2 his normal serving) I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Vomiting and diarrhea can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

It sounds like Princess may have eaten something naughty (trash, toilet paper, paper plate, sock, toy stuffing, other) that decided to come back up. The fact that she has shown no signs today is promising. If she has eaten and kept it down, you are likely in the clear. Caveat: Do watch her closely for the next 2-3 days because if a smaller piece of whatever it was did get through and gets lodged in the intestine, you'll see lots more vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, etc. If this happens, it's time to see the vet. Vomiting and bloody stools can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. It is possible that the vomit has blood in it, though I would not expect it to have flecks in it. It is possible that Koda ate something that was red/pink in color that made his vomit this color. However, even the possibility of blood in vomit is cause for concern as this can be caused by stomach ulcers, foreign bodies, or certain toxins. I recommend keeping a very close eye on Koda, and having her examined immediately if this happens again or your believe you are seeing something that looks like frank blood or dark coffee grounds in her vomit. She should also be seen immediately if you think there is a chance that she may have eaten something she shouldn't have or has gotten into human medications. Until she can be seen by a vet tomorrow, I recommend not giving her any food and only offering small amounts of water. There are emergency clinics in most cities that are open 24 hours. The tar like appearance to his stool is likely due to digested blood, indicating bleeding in the GI tract of some kind (a growth, an ulcer, secondary to toxin ingestion, etc.). I would have him seen, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and get started on treatment to resolve his issues (GI protectant, anti-nausea medication, anti-diarrheal, antacids, for example). Your dog has most likely gotten into something that has caused her stool to be abnormal. I would keep an eye on her for now. If thenstool continues to be abnormal or if she starts vomiting and/or having liquidy stools I would take her to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps.
