Is it okay to switch my new adopted dog from Sentinel to Trifexis?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 49 lbs

I just adopted a dog at Petco and Humane society had given her Sentinel. Should we keep her on that or can I switch her to Trifexis, since that's what we give our other dog & I already order through Dr.'s Foster & Smith? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

Switching to Trifexis is fine. Just be aware that Trifexis doesn't get ticks (neither does Sentinel, it is just heartworm, GI parasites and sterilized female fleas).

I hope this helps!
