My dog swallowed an orange piece. Is loose stool a sign of trouble?

I'm really glad to hear that Mugi is still eating and acting normally! Stool color can change with any different food (not even just orange foods) as a result of how the bile and gut bacteria shift in response. I definitely understand your concern because finding stool with orange and greenish coloration can seem a bit disconcerting. The good news is that there really isn't anything you need to worry about since Mugi otherwise seems so normal. Just continue to keep an eye on her and any other changes to her stool color. However, if she becomes lethargic, experiences a loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in her water consumption/urine volume, then it's worth taking a trip to the vet for evaluation to rule out other medical issues. Hi and thanks for your post! The orangish color of Chloe's loose feces may be caused by what she ate recently. I see a part of a corn cob (?) which could explain the yellow-orange color. It is likely caused by something she ate recently and I wouldn't worry too much unless she starts to have diarrhea, vomiting or decreased appetite or if you notice the feces are still orange-yellow present after a few days. You don't want to see them go longer than 48 hours without pooping, which should put you at Monday. It could something Cosita ate causing this poop, it could be an illness, a foreign body, or it could be trauma to her GI tract. The vet should hopefully be able to diagnose the cause.

I would not expect an orange seed to cause any serious - even in a very small dog like Zia, it should pass through her GI system without any problems. As long as she is acting normal, I wouldn't worry. If she has any vomiting over the next day or two, or doesn't want to eat, then it would be best to have her seen by a vet to make sure that nothing serious is wrong.

It's good that her stool is better this morning, and I would continue to monitor it. Orange and blueberries can be hard for a dog to digest, and that's probably why you are still seeing it in her stool. Given you are seeing improvement in the stool, continue to monitor it for the next 24-48 hours. If it isn't normal after that time period, then I would have her seen by a vet.

Poor pup! Yes, if she's been having diarrhea for two weeks now without significant improvement, I would definitely recommend taking her to the vet. He/she can check a fecal exam or do some other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong and get her started on appropriate medication to get the diarrhea under control.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I don't think you need to bring her in. I think that the pineapple being orange has to do with in being in the stomach. And since the stool is brown inside that is normal. Just watch her closely for any diarrhea or continued vomiting with or with out blood. And If she isn't acting normal or not eating then I would have her seen. Good luck!
