My chihuahua ate an orange. She has diarrhea for 2 weeks. Vet needed?

Poor pup! No, it's not normal for her to have diarrhea, especially if it's been going on for a week now. I would be concerned that she may have an intestinal parasite of some kind, or possibly an infection causing the diarrhea. I would recommend taking her to the vet today if you can for an exam - he/she can do a fecal exam to check for parasites or other problems, and will prescribe appropriate medication to treat the diarrhea depending on what is found.

I am sorry Alaina is not feeling well. I would recommend taking her to the vet since she has had diarrhea for 4 days and vomiting. These clinical signs can be related to sever gastric upset, foreign object obstruction, toxin, pancreatitis and even parasites. it is best for her to a have a good exam and some testing like blood work to determine the cause. I would recommend having Golia get checked out by a vet. I always recommend a quick checkup for any diarrhea that lasts longer than 24 hours. Sometimes it is just a simple upset stomach that will respond to a round of prescription medications. It could also be caused by intestinal parasites. Or it could be an indicator of other illness, such as bacterial or viral infections or IBD. Some dogs will respond to adding 1/2 a tablespoon of canned pumpkin (for fiber) in their food twice a day, but if Golia isn't better tomorrow, it is best to be evaluated by a vet. I recommend giving Chico a bland diet, boiled chicken and white rice. If he becomes lethargic, there is blood or he isn't eating then I recommend taking Chico to a veterinarian. Also if the diarrhea isn't resolving after another day I would consider taking him to a veterinarian. Yes, I recommend to have your puppy examined by the veterinarian. Two weeks is a long time to have soft stool. Make sure to bring in a stool sample so that the veterinarian can check for a bacterial infection or parasite. Best to get this taken care of sooner rather than later. Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear that Chalula has been vomiting so frequently. This is not normal and she will need to be seen by her veterinarian. Depending on her examination findings, she may need laboratory work and abdominal x-rays. Poor Morticia! The diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn’t have, bacterial over growth, parasites or even organ disease. If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. I hope Morticia starts feeling better quickly!
