My dog has been sneezing uncontrollably for hours. Should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Rat Terrier | Female | unspayed | 35 lbs

My dog has been sneezing uncontrollably for about seven hours now it was a lot more persistent earlier because the sneezes we’re about five seconds apart from each other but as of now there 10 to 15 minutes apart I noticed when she is under a blanket she’s not sneezing as much or at all but is soon as she comes out into the open air she starts sneezing uncontrollably. No physical signs of pain. Did not see anything in her nose but can’t really see in. I don’t know what the next step to take is.

I'd recommend having Gigi examined by a vet - this sounds like extreme sneezing. There might be a foreign object stuck in her nose. If she has also had nasal discharge then an infection, growth, or even a tooth root abscess could be causing the sneezing.

Given how frequently her symptoms are occurring, I worry that she does have an infection. If so, she may need an antibiotic. In the meantime, you can place her the bathroom while you shower. My dog keeps sneezing and coughing, but Zyrtec isn't helping. Why?

I am sorry Gigi is having this problem. IF an over the counter anti histamine is not helping I would recommend having him examined by a vet, A range of issues can cause chronic sneezing and coughing. IT is possible Gigi has something stuck in her nose like a piece of grass, has an upper respiratory infection, allergies, asthma, lung disease or even heart disease. Having her listened to by a vet would be the most helpful. They might also want to take x-rays of her lungs to make sure they look normal.

There could be something irritating in the environment causing Gohan to sneeze a lot like excess dust, or it could be he is suffering from a respiratory infection. The doctor can provide medication that can help with inflammation. Poor Daisy! She is an older girl, and unfortunately this sneezing with blood in her snot could be due to a malignant growth (cancer) in her nasal cavity. It could also be due to a foreign body, fungal infection, or respiratory infection. Because this has been ongoing for a while, it's best that Daisy is seen by a vet either today or tomorrow. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, x-rays, and may look up her nasal cavity with an endoscope to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.
