My dog is sneezing uncontrollably and hitting his head. What's wrong?

I'd recommend having Gigi examined by a vet - this sounds like extreme sneezing. There might be a foreign object stuck in her nose. If she has also had nasal discharge then an infection, growth, or even a tooth root abscess could be causing the sneezing.

It sounds like buddy could have inhaled something in the yard like a blade of grass or a dried weed or foxtail. If they inhale plant material like this they will often have bouts of sneezing violently and often shake/thrash their head during the sneezing attacks. Sometimes they will also flare their nostril on the side of the foreign material or may have Nasal discharge from that nostril. If buddy continues to have sneezing fits i would have him evaluated by his veterinarian. If they think he could have inhaled something, they will sedate him and look up to nose with special instruments to visualize and remove any foreign material. Dogs can also inhale irritating pollens etc in the yard causing a short few episodes of sneezing. If it is just a little allergic reaction to something they inhale it is usually self limiting and requires no treatment. Hope this helps!

As long as she isn't injuring herself when she hits her head on the floor (bloody nose, mouth, etc), I would recommend to contact your veterinarian to see if there is an anti-histamine that you could give her to help control her sneezing. Frequent sneezes can be caused by many things. If he s having an occasional couple of sneezes throughout the day he could have a minor inhaled allergy. If he is having more little fits of snorting sneezes these could be reverse sneezes - also often caused by inhaled allergens. If either of these are the case and the sneezes become more frequent you could contact your veterinarian for an antihistamine dose. If it is just occasional I wouldn't worry about it too much and I would just monitor. If Sanza is having fits of violent sneezes, he could have inhaled plant material or a foxtail that may be stuck in the nose. If this is the case I would have him evaluated by his veterinarian as soon as possible. If the sneezing progresses to nasal discharge or coughing he may have an upper respiratory infection. In this case I would also have him seen by a veterinarian.
