My dog is sick after Clindamycin for abscess. What should I do?

As for the dosage, clindamycin has a wide dose range when treating abscesses. Sonnie is currently receiving 16 mg/kg, and this range can go up to 33mg/kg. Her eating grass and feeling unwell could very well be the clavamox, it is known to cause nausea. try giving the clavamox about 10-15 minutes after a large meal. it can reduce this side effect. the sleepiness could be both the antibiotics and the kennel cough, it's quite normal but she should start feeling better soon.

I would strongly recommend taking her right away back to your vet, antibiotics alone are definitely not enough when a dog is vomiting, she needs an injection to stop the vomiting to start with, otherwise no oral medications can be given. cephlaxin is also known for increasing vomiting, she needs a different antibiotic such as Metrogyl or Amoxicillin. i would also recommend a blood test at the very least.

But in general, I would not expect to see any serious issues from a one-time dose of clindamycin, even if it's a relatively high dose for her size. You might see some mild GI upset (vomiting or diarrhea) for the next 24 hours or so, but otherwise she should be just fine.
