My puppy ate clindamycin. Is it harmful or will she be okay?

Poor Sonnie! Nearly any antibiotic can cause vomiting and diarrhea as a side effect, so I would not become overly concerned about that point. If Sonnie does develop this, call his vet and offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days to allow his stomach to settle. As for the dosage, clindamycin has a wide dose range when treating abscesses. Sonnie is currently receiving 16 mg/kg, and this range can go up to 33mg/kg. Continue following the prescribed directions and call his vet if anything changes for him. I hope that all goes well!

The dosage for a dog her size is 10mg, so she ingested two times this amount. however studies have shown no serious adverse effect with double that dose so i believe she will be fine. symptoms you should expect: vomiting, lethargy and diarrhea.

Hello. This is twice the normal dude for him, but this is a very safe antibiotic with very low chance of toxicity. I doubt that Skipper will suffer any side effects, but to guard against nausea...try to feed him a little to reduce the chance that he could vomit . You can contact your veterinarian to inform them about her reaction and they may be able to give her anti-nausea medications to control her signs. That's ok, this happens. Lina should be fine; at most, you may see some stomach upset but this won't cause any serious problems. Just be sure to give it to her once a day from now on. I hope this helps!

Clindamycin is a very safe antibiotic. Depending on the manufacturer they can have different concentrations. If you could post the number of milligrams per ML listed on the bottle it would help if the dosage is correct. However it does seem like a good dose me. There are no known risk of a pet being on clindamycin prior to anesthesia and in fact it is a very common drug before a dental cleaning is done.
