My dog shook his head, foamed, fell. Is it a seizure or emergency?

Oh dear! This sounds extremely serious - your dog may be having a seizure, or may have a serious illness or ingested something toxic. I'm afraid there is really nothing you can do at home for a problem this serious, so the best advice I can give you is to take your dog to the nearest veterinarian immediately. I would be concerned that he may die without immediate veterinary care.

If you feel that Dexter may have had a seizure last night, I would have him evaluated by a veterinarian at their next available appointment. There are many causes of seizures including low blood sugar, liver disease such as a shunt, kidney disease, and disease within the cranium or cerebrospinal fluid. Your veterinarian can perform an exam on Dexter and best localize the problem. He/she may recommend bloodwork to help understand what may have happened to Dexter. I hope this is helpful!

It sounds like a small stroke, it could be vestibular disease as well, i would recommend taking him for a checkup today, he should be evaluated to make sure his neurological condition is not damaged.

I am very sorry to hear about Clouds. I would definitely recommend a visit to your vet for an exam and bloodwork. It sounds as though this could be a seizure, and if they are occurring this frequently he needs treatment. The vet will do an exam and discuss the episodes with you and decide if they feel seizures were taking place (take a video if you see this happen again), and they will want to do bloodwork to rule out some possible causes of seizure such as liver disease or infection, and can discuss starting medication to help stop these episodes.

Snow needs to see the veterinarian today. Dizziness is never normal and can indicate many things including toxin ingestion, drug exposure, an infection in the brain, brain cancer, low blood sugar, an inner ear infection and other serious reasons. A physical exam and bloodwork are needed to begin figuring out the cause and the best treatment. Other diagnostics may also be indicated. The lip smacking may indicate nausea which has many many causes and may be related to whatever is making her feel dizzy. A bump on her head could be many things. It could be an inflamed cyst but something like a cancerous Mast Cell Tumor can also behave the same way. Make sure to discuss all three of these things with your vet. I hope they figure things out quickly and that she gets back to normal quickly.

That sounds scary! Teddy may have had a seizure. Syncope or a low blood sugar episode are also possible. Teddy needs to be examined by his veterinarian today if possible. Pets can have seizures for many reasons including liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, infections, inner ear problems, cancer or epilepsy. Hello, seizures are very scary, & in an elderly dog like Harley, it could mean some serious inflammation in the brain. Since he is so weak, I would really encourage you to take him to an emergency clinic for treatment. He may need some anti-inflammatory medication or anti-nausea medication to help with the drooling.
