My dog had a seizure, now walks funny. Is emergency vet care needed?

You can also have transient deficits in the post ictal (after -seizure) period that may resolve. You should bring your pet to a veterinarian for evaluation. Certainly seizures can be the result of a toxicity but, they may also be due to metabolic problems or primary neurologic issues. in addition, if he is having continual problems, there maybe treatment needed. I hope he is ok!

I'm sorry that happened to your dog! It's always scary to see them disoriented. Based on what you've reported, I suspect she may have experienced a seizure. It sounds like she recovered without complication as they often do. My personal dog has epilepsy so I've seen this many times. I would record the symptoms and date on your calendar. I would consult with your veterinarian and report her symptoms (not an emergency unless she experiences another episode today). Your vet can perform a thorough exam and recommend any other diagnostics to make sure there is nothing obvious that needs treatment. Depending on what they find and if she has more episodes, appropriate treatment can be recommended.

Hi. This sounds like it could be serious. I would worry about either some seizure activity, some severe nausea, dizziness, or even ears. Lots of possibilities. But this needs to be addressed quickly. I would call your veterinarian for an appointment today. If they aren't available then I would recommend the ER

I would recommend a veterinary visit especially now that we have a history of seizures. Your veterinarian can palpate Ryleigh’s leg to determine if there is anything with her leg. Poor Dex. Any seizure should be checked out by a vet, as they are not normal. I would get him an appointment to get this checked out as soon as you can. If he seizures again before you can seek vet care: - Don't put your hands near his mouth - Keep some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to spray on the pads of the feet for cooling - Monitor him at all times during the seizure to ensure that he cannot hurt himself by crashing into furniture, etc - If the seizure continues for more than 5 minutes, seek emergency care immediately I hope this helps!

The fact that he cannot use his legs is very concerning as that could be the result of the seizures or be unrelated. I highly recommend that you have Max evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Diagnostics that will be recommended will include bloodwork and advanced imaging such as an MRI. This is a medical emergency and you cannot treat this at home. Buddy has to see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
