My elderly dog had a seizure, is weak, shaking, drooling. Go to ER?

It sounds to me like Harly is having neurological issues, probably originating from his brain. Unfortunately, the most common cause of these type of episodes in a dog Harley’s age is usually a tumor in the brain. If you are not getting the help you require from your regular veterinarian I would recommend going to see a veterinary neurologist. Poor Harley! In an old dog, I would be concerned that a seizure could be caused by low blood sugar, liver disease, kidney disease, or a brain tumor. I would take him into the vet today for an exam. It would be a very good idea to diagnose the cause of the seizure, and he may benefit from anti-seizure medications.

Hi. This sounds like it could be serious. I would worry about either some seizure activity, some severe nausea, dizziness, or even ears. Lots of possibilities. But this needs to be addressed quickly. I would call your veterinarian for an appointment today. If they aren't available then I would recommend the ER

If this is not the case, small breed dogs are prone to neck and/or back pain. This is a potentially serious situation as it can lead to weak or paralysis in certain cases. His veterinarian will be able to guide as far as treatment based on his exam findings. Poor Harley. It could be he is nauseous or has a dental problem causing the drooling. If he has a dental problem, it could extend into his sinuses, leading to the balance problems. But the balance problems could be caused by something else like an ear infection. I think he definitely needs to see a vet, and I would take him into one first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
