My dog collapsed, foamed, and was unconscious. Is it a seizure?

It sounds suspicious for a seizure . Kayla could have a seizure for a few reasons. The most common is epilepsy but toxins, liver disease or brain tumors can also cause seizures. I would recommend to take him into the vet asap for a neurologic exam and bloodwork. This will help to narrow down what caused this. Keep him quiet until his visit and encourage him to drink water. So sorry about your dog. Besides it being caused by a seizure disorder, he could have something like laryngeal paralysis, collapsing trachea or be having a syncopal (fainting) episode from a heart problem. You could try to record one so your vet can see exactly what is happening. If the episodes continue and your vet is not able to control them, ask for a referral to a specialist for more testing. It might be a good idea to take a chest x-ray, have an ultrasound of his heart, and/or examination of his throat to look for laryngeal paralysis. Hope he gets better soon!

This sounds like he may have had a seizure. Sometimes these happen for no reason (epilepsy) from stress or anxiety other times there maybe a medical reason. Since he is returning to normal and doing better you can monitor for any further episodes if he has another seizure then he needs to be examined to see what is going on and possibly started in medicine.

Sounds like Snow is having partial seizures. I suggest you video tape her episodes and take her to the vet for an exam and show them the video. They will most likely recommend some blood testing and will discuss with you some anti-seizure medications if they think they are needed. Sustained or repeated seizures can cause the body temperature to rise to dangerous levels and increases the risk of brain damage. When you have a chance, take a look around and see if you can find anything he might have gotten into, since poisoning is one of the causes of seizures. If he has a history of liver or kidney disease, this is also a potential cause. Sometimes we never know why a pet has a seizure. If he does have a series of seizures, your vet will want to do an exam and bloodwork to try and determine a cause and potentially put your pet on anti-seizure medication to lessen the chances of this happening again in the future.

Hi. This sounds like it could be serious. I would worry about either some seizure activity, some severe nausea, dizziness, or even ears. Lots of possibilities. But this needs to be addressed quickly.
