Why is my dog drooling, losing balance, and acting lethargic?

If they are then he could be having a vestibular event. The most common cause is a middle ear infection (under the ear drum) that causes inflammation of the peripheral nerve that control balance. Other causes could be more serious: stroke, seizure, brain tumor, metabolic issues or bleeding that is causing weakness. Harley should see your Vet ASAP this morning for an exam. Synis experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Syn.

It does sound like Harley is feeling sick, and this lethargy could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. The runny nose could be due to a respiratory infection or allergies, while her looking at her behind could be due to impacted anal sacs, pain, or intestinal worms. I do think it would be a good idea to have her seen by a vet tomorrow, and I don't feel you need to rush to the the vet tonight if she is eating and drinking. But definitely have her seen by a vet in the morning for a health check if she is still acting this way tomorrow.

Hello, seizures are very scary, & in an elderly dog like Harley, it could mean some serious inflammation in the brain. Since he is so weak, I would really encourage you to take him to an emergency clinic for treatment. He may need some anti-inflammatory medication or anti-nausea medication to help with the drooling. Please, take Princess to your local vet right away. Acute loss of balance should be always treated as an emergency. She may have been intoxicated, the signs could be due to brain dysfunction or ear problem, which should be treated without delay.

That is very unusual. There are several things that come to mind that could cause the signs. Ingesting toxins, an inner ear infection, stroke or viral infections are all possible. Anytime a pet appears off-balance you should be concerned and I recommend to take Nigel in to see a veterinarian right away. It sounds like your dog is sick. The drooling can be due to nausea, and the lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea could be due to a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I would take your dog into a vet right away for an exam, he sounds quite ill with all these symptoms, and he needs to be medically treated ASAP.
