My dog has red bumps, vomiting, diarrhea, and won't eat. What's wrong?

From your description, it sounds as though Muffin has a bacterial skin infection and the bumps you are seeing are pustules. If he is lethargic and having diarrhea in addition to the pustules on the skin, I would recommend taking him in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Allergic reactions after bug bites in dogs can result in a swollen face, and can also result in some gastritis (vomiting and diarrhea). It looks like the swelling is improving which is good. I would suggest a vet visit if you can for the vomiting and diarrhea, however if that isn't possible then I would suggest to feed a bland diet of boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breasts and boiled rice, in small frequent meals for the next couple days. This will heal up a mild gastritis. The swelling will take time to come down, so just monitor that it isn't getting worse. If the diarrhea continues or if it becomes very bloody (looks like jam) then you will need to figure out how to take him to a vet. Best of luck with Charlie!

Depending on the size, distribution, and appearance of the red bumps they can be a great variety of things. If they have all come about suddenly and are occurring in concert with the vomiting, I would concerned that Mootzie is undergoing an allergic reaction. If the symptoms do not seem to be worsening (no respiratory distress, swelling of the face / lips, etc), you do not need to rush her into the veterinarian tonight for treatment. I would fast her of any food and water for the next 12-18 hours to see if she settles down. If she doesn't or the clinical signs worsen or progress, get her to a hospital as soon as possible.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Charlotte! Thanks for the pictures they are very helpful! Charlotte has hives all over her and is likely experiencing an allergic reaction. Likely the vomiting and diarrhea are all part of the reaction. Sometimes we never know the cause, but insect or spider bites are common. The mainstay of treatment are antihistamines and steroids. Likely she should be put on metronidazole for her diarrhea as well. I would call your Vet back and ask to have her seen today. She will be miserable until Thursday and may have more vomiting or diarrhea. I hope this helps and I wish Charlotte a speedy recovery!

With your description of Bambi's problem, I would be worried about a systemic disease / infection or that maybe she ate something and it is causing a GI obstruction. I would get her seen as soon as possible so that she can receive the appropriate medical treatment as soon as possible. The sooner the better. Hi, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. From your pictures it appears that Kona may have hives. Monitor her closely for any other signs of illness. If she vomits any more, the bumps spread or get bigger, or she has any other itching she should go to an emergency clinic. Any coughing or swelling of her face and she needs to be treated immediately. She may have gotten stung or bitten by an insect or having a reaction to a plant in the grass. In some cases, giving a dose benedryl can help. I hope Kona is feeling better soon.

I am sorry Brie is not feeling well. I would recommend taking her to a vet to have the lumps examined closer. A vet can place a small needle into the mass and look at the cells under a microscope to determine what the masses are. Masses can range from cyst, abscesses or even cancerous so they should always be checked out. Also since Brie is vomiting it would be best for her to have an exam and maybe even abdominal x-rays to determine why she is vomiting. IT is important to make sure the mass and vomiting are not connected. I hope brie feels better soon and thanks for using pet coach
