My dog has red belly bumps, diarrhea, and won't eat. What's wrong?

Hi. This appears to be a skin infection. THese can be caused by bacteria, yeast, fleas, ticks, mites, food sensitivities, allergies, and more. I would recommned and exam and some skin testig with some antibiotics from your veterinarian. Good luck

I recommend getting him in to see your vet as soon as possible about the loss of appetite and diarrhea. Puppies that young can dehydrate easily and their blood sugar can drop quickly to life-threatening levels. The diarrhea could be caused by parasites, a bacterial or viral infection, or possibly swallowing something he shouldn't have, irritating the GI tract or, more seriously, getting stuck and causing an obstruction. The skin I'm less worried about, though that can be addressed at the same visit. Many puppies develop what is called puppy pyoderma, which is roughly equivalent to acne in humans. Most outgrow it and it rarely gets bad enough to require medication, but sometimes antibiotics and therapeutic bathing is needed to help them heal more quickly.

I would recommend having a stool sample performed to rule out intestinal parasites and give a general deworming. I would then recommend blood work on him to see if there is something going on with Muffins organs. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

This could be due to an allergic reaction to something he ate, maybe a new food , a treat or just something he snapped from the floor on the street. if it is bad you should take him to the vet to get it treated with allergy meds and possibly diarrhea meds as well.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

I am so sorry that Chanita is dealing with this. I would highly recommend calling your veterinarian and taking her to see them. This looks like it could potentially be an allergic reaction and that would explain why the benadryl helped and the lesions are no longer there. She may still have some of the allergen affecting her. Your veterinarian can perform blood work to make sure there is nothing else going on with her and then give her medication to help with the allergen. They can also vomit from an allergic reaction so it does not surprise me. Regarding her stool you can always try a bland diet (boiled chicken and white rice). If the medications you used don't help within 24 hours, I recommend seeing a vet for oral antibiotics. Also, if that's his neck make sure to clean his collar too. Good luck and kisses to Murphy!
