Is giving my dog milk safe? Can it cause worms or stomach issues?

Feeding cow milk will not have any effect on intestinal worms. If you suspect your puppy has intestinal worms, your puppy will need to be dewormed with an the appropriate deworming medication from your veterinarian. I hope this helps!

My opinion is if Jhumru doesn't get sick from milk then there is no reason to stop, but watch for any signs of an upset stomach. As dogs age and get weaned off of their mother's milk, they lose an enzyme that breaks down the protein in milk. Without this enzyme they can get diarrhea and other gastrointestinal upsets when they drink milk. Generally, we advise owners not to feed their dogs milk once they are over three months old. Most dogs do not tolerate cows milk. As they get older they do not have the proper enzymes to digest the lactose in the milk. I do know of some people who give their dogs milk and never have any problems. Baby girl does need a regimen of regular dog food though to ensure she is getting all the proper nutrients. If Babygirl commonly has an upset stomach the milk could actually be the problem. If she commonly has problems with her stomach, I would have your vet take a look at her to make sure there isn’t something else going on like intestinal parasites or a bacterial infection. Your vet will be able to talk to you in detail about her diet and the amount of milk she is receiving and whether taking off the milk will actually be more beneficial for her and her tummy. Some do handle certain dairy products ok while others develop tummy upset (vomit and diarrhea). If you want to give Bruno dairy products start with small amounts to see how he handles it.
