Is it safe for my dog to eat curd? What about other dairy products?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dogs typically do not have a complete intolerance to dairy, but as it is not a mainstay of their dietary needs, it can cause GI upset. I typically do not recommend giving dogs straight milk, and lower sugar ice creams can have artificial sugars (such as xylitol) which are toxic to dogs. Regular ice cream or cheese can be fine in small amounts but it based on each individual animal. If you want to give your dog anything dairy as a small treat, only start with one thing in very small amounts to see how Brody tolerates it and ensure he doesn't develop any vomiting/diarrhea.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Bruno is very cute! I think you are saying that Bruno doesn't eat his dog food well but likes milk? Dogs and cats are actually lactose intolerant and ingesting milk isn't an appropriate diet for an almost adult lab. Bruno needs to eat a commercial adult dog food. If he doesn't like what you are feeding him: add water or a little canned food with or without water or change brands of food. I am not sure based on your post if his appetite change is a new thing. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cats and dogs are actually lactose intolerant and dairy products can cause tummy upset consisting of vomiting and/or diarrhea. If Tilly tolerates yogurt just give it in moderation. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Chutki! Curd is not appropriate nutrition for animals. They need to be on a commercial dog or puppy food if over 5 weeks of age, Under 5 weeks they should be fed a puppy formula. Regardless the curd should not be causing coughing. Curd can cause vomiting and diarrhea though. If dogs cough hard enough they can stimulate their gag reflex and end the cough in a gag or vomit. I would worry about the breathing with the cough. Causes could be kennel cough or pneumonia. I would have her examine by a Vet and consider having X-rays of her lungs. I wish you both the best!

If Brino is having diarrhea I wouldn't give him something he has never had before that isn't bland, it could make the diarrhea worse. If the diarrhea is bad I would not feed him for 12 hours then restart feeding with a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs until 1-2 normal stools. If the stool isn't improving in 1-2 days he should be seen by your Vet (partially do to his age and the length of symptoms) for an exam and medications. My opinion is if Jhumru doesn't get sick from milk then there is no reason to stop, but watch for any signs of an upset stomach.
