My dog acts super hungry right after pooping. Is this normal?

It is definitely a mystery. Dog behavior is not totally understood, but it does seem that some dogs are more fastidiously cleaner than others. As long as everything else is normal, a little quirk here & there is what makes life so interesting! take care.

There are some disease processes in dogs that can cause an increased appetite. Most notably is an endocrine disorder called Cushing's Disease and the appetite is the result of excessive steroid production in the body. A pet taking steroid medication could also have increased appetite. There are other possible diagnoses as well so if the change is significant a good place to start would be an exam and bloodwork with your family vet. Any sudden change in behavior from the normal can be a sign of a medical illness, and I would have Luna seen by a vet today. Eating feces can be a sign of intestinal parasites in dogs, and if she had a heavy burden of them, that would cause her to feel very unwell. A health check by the vet can diagnose if there is a medical cause behind her behavior, and can treat her for it.

Yes, this sounds perfectly normal. Many dogs only have a bowel movement once a day and some occasionally skip a day between bowel movements. As long as Buddy is eating, drinking and acting normally without straining to have a bowel movement, there is likely no reason for concern. :-)

Yes, Prim may be acting this way due to hormones. I suggest you get her to your vet though for an exam in case there is something more pressing underlying. She may have a urinary tract infection causing the abnormal wee-ing. She could have some nutritional deficiency that is causing the extreme hunger. It is best to get her checked out by your vet.

Just like with any biological system that is so complex, elimination habits are going to be variable depending on many factors such as composition of the food ingested, digestion, absorption of nutrients, and the transit time of the material in the intestines. As long as everything else is normal, it's completely within normal limits for times of elimination to vary. Just think about yourself and your patterns and understand that with very complex physiological systems, variability will always be present and probably normal.
