Why is my mother dog peeing inside and so hungry after puppies?

It is very normal for mother dogs to be eating constantly after giving birth and while nursing as they need to have enough calories and energy to produce milk for growing puppies while keeping their own health up. If not already, Peaches should be fed a puppy diet or other high-calorie food so that she has enough nutrients to keep herself and the puppies healthy. Make sure she is being fed at least 2-3 times daily so she can eat enough to satisfy her and the puppies needs. As they get closer to weaning age and begin to eat on their own, you can gradually switch mom over to her regular feeding schedule and the puppies to the puppy food.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog! With a sudden change in behavior like this I would recommend having her examined by a vet to ensure there isn't a medical cause. She really needs to see a vet. I wish I could tell you something to do at home but that is not possible without knowing why she is showing those symptoms. Not only that, but those symptoms are very non-specific and could be from almost any disease process or illness that can affect a dog. Some examples would be: diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney disease, liver disease, Cushing's disease, parasites,....just to name a few. I don’t think she is depressed. I think she is probably sick. I worry about a uterine infection called a pyometra. It is a pus filled uterus. It doesn’t happen often just after pregnancy, but it can. If this is her problem it is life threatening without surgery. I would encourage you to take her to your local humane society or city shelter as often they will provide low cost or even free spay and neuter. Since it sounds like this is a new behavior for Nala, I would be suspicious that she may have an underlying medical problem causing her to be hungrier than normal. This can be caused by a variety of different things including Cushing's disease, diabetes, or even a thyroid tumor. I would recommend taking her to the vet for a full check-up and some basic lab work to help check for these problems. If nothing is found on her medical work-up, you may need to consult with a behaviorist to determine if she has developed an anxiety problem or some other issue - this can occur later in life in some cases, and may require a bit of "detective work" by a skilled professional to determine the cause.

I recommend getting her seen by your vet for an exam and bloodwork. She could have parasites, also, voracious appetite without weight gain or weight loss is a sign of diabetes. It could be that the pups have worn her out. She should have been eating puppy food the whole time she was pregnant and nursing. If she was not, this could be partly responsible for her thin condition. Your vet will give you a treatment plan, based on the findings.

Excessive water consumption, weight loss despite still eating can signal diabetes. If she is nursing puppies, that is the most likely cause for her weight loss. The blood is concerning, it could be anything from parasites, to a viral or bacterial infection, just to name a couple of possibilities. I recommend getting her in to see your vet right away for an exam and labwork. Also, while she is nursing puppies, she should have access to lots of fresh water and as much high calorie puppy food as she wants at all times.
