Since Dodger has diarrhea and is on the road to recovery I think you are ok. If the mucous and/or diarrhea persists I’d bring him the vet for metronidazole. I wish Dodger a speedy recovery!

Ziggy may have diarrhea secondary to GI inflammation from the ribbon. As long as he is acting normally, not lethargic, eating well and not vomiting I would just monitor him for now. You can try offering a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if this firms up his stools. It is very important to monitor him for any abnormal signs especially vomiting or not eating. Strings and ribbons can cause a serious GI blockage so if any of the above signs develop Ziggy should be seen by a veterinarian right away. Also, if his diarrhea persists I would recommend seeing your veterinarian as it could be related to GI parasites or may require medication to resolve. That could be completely normal as could be due to a mild gastrointestinal chronic inflammation. It is difficult usually to determine it specifically, unless other signs (usually chronic vomiting or diarrhoea) are present. If not I would suggest just to monitor him at this stage. This could be due to the presence of mucous coming from the last part the intestine. It may be compatible with colitis, which is an inflammation, usually dietary related. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. This sounds like diarrhea. In dogs, diarrhea can be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, or a change in diet to name a few things. I can give you a home remedy for Leah to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

An isolated night of some vomiting and diarrhea, while stress for you and your, may not be extremely significant. I would consider switching Gizmo to something very bland like boiled chicken and rice to see if he can keep this down. You may even consider completely fasting him for 24 hours (continue to allow water). If the vomiting and diarrhea continues to persist for a total of 24 hours or if Gizmo is unable to keep down anything, you definitely need to get him into the vet for a diagnostic work up. I would describe the symptoms in detail over the phone, as it is possible your vet may want Gizmo to stay in the car until the Parvovirus can be effectively ruled out.
