My 8-week puppy is vomiting with green, slimy diarrhea. Is it serious?

I'm sorry to hear that Gizmo is so sick! Unfortunately, these symptoms are very worrying. Lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea are often caused by a serious illness such as parvo, and can be life-threatening in a puppy this age. I know that costs are a concern for you, but Gizmo really needs to see a vet right away - I would be worried that she may not survive without veterinary care. This doesn't necessarily need to be an expensive visit; if you let the vet know that you have financial constraints, they can often come up with a fairly inexpensive plan for supportive care (including IV fluids and injectable meds for you to give at home) that will give her a fighting chance even with a serious illness like this. You could also see if there is a low-cost SPCA clinic in your area that could help, or apply online for Care Credit, which is a payment plan accepted by most vet clinics: www.carecredit.com If going to the vet is not possible at all, then I would just try to keep her warm and comfortable and do the best you can to keep her hydrated. You can continue giving Pedialyte if she's able to keep it down, and you might also try offering her some warmed low-sodium chicken or beef broth to help encourage her to drink. Plain boiled chicken or chicken-flavored baby food can also be offered if she's interested in eating at all, as these are very bland and should not upset her stomach further.

I'm sorry to hear that Stinky isn't feeling well. I can't tell if the soft stool are vomiting are common for her or a new thing. If long term (more than a month), it could be caused by intestinal parasites, food intolerance or allergy, or less likely an endocrine issue. If it's a sudden change, she could have caused an acute entrogastritis by eating something different/bad, could have an infection, or many other causes. If she's eating well and energetic, it's not generally an emergency and you can wait to see if she gets better with time. A daily probiotic can help (anything you find at a store is fine, or you can buy Fortiflora on Amazon). If the vomiting has been going on for more than a few days, or is frequent (more than a couple times a day) I would recommend a vet visit when possible

It sounds like your pup is having some sort of gastrointestinal distress. This could be from a virus, parasites, something she ate, or a metabolic issue. Since she has had several episodes of the vomiting and diarrhea over the past week I think I would be a good idea to have her checked out. If possible, please take Bailey to your local emergency service for an appointment tonight. If this is not an option, you should withhold any water or food overnight, offer him very small amount of water in the morning and take him to your regular vets as soon as they open on Saturday morning.

As long as Tea is feeling fine I'm not overly concerned. Puppies get into lots of things so a day of vomiting and diarrhea can be ok. I'd cut back his food for today, make sure he has water and let him rest like you are doing. If he's not better in the morning then take him right in for an exam. Since he's so small and young if he doesn't improve quickly then treatment is needed so he doesn't get worse. They'll check a fecal sample for intestinal parasites, give medication for the vomiting and diarrhea, and if they feel it's a serious problem they may also do a blood panel, parvovirus test or X-ray. Poor Elmo! This diarrhea could be caused by GI illness, eating something rotten, a sudden change in diet, a foreign body, or intestinal worms. If he isn't up to date on his deworming treatments, you will need to get one from the vet. Should he be up to date on his deworming treatments, you can try a home remedy before taking him into the vet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
