My dog's eyes have a red reflection. Could this mean blindness?

This is normal in dogs! It's a part of their anatomy (also in cats and other similar species) called the tapetum lucidum. This is what gives dogs that glowy, reflective look and a "red eye" when looking into a camera or light at night. That may be normal. A dog has a structure in the eye called the tapetum lucidum. It allows the dog to see better in the dark, it reflects light. I'd still have Daisy checked out by a vet to be safe. Poor girl being abused.

When you take photos of your pets or people and the flash hits the eyes at a certain angle you will be able to see through the pupils to the back of the lense which has a lot of blood vessels. This will appear red and is normal. This will often happen when you take pictures of people also. I can see that the sclera (white part of the eye) does look a little red in your last picture. This could be from trauma but can also be seen with conjunctivitis or even a corneal ulcer. Given Mitzer's breed I would recommend seeing a vet to make sure the cornea does not appear affected. They can also look at the lens and the back of the eye to make sure there is nothing abnormal that would cause a difference in the reflection from the back of the eye.

It looks like the right eye is a little 'wall eyed' but most pets will not have any problems with this condition. While it's not 'normal', it's also not uncommon. To be certain there are not any problems, have your vet check the neurological reflexes in the eyes and the face. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I would not say that him having red eyes is ever normal. However if he is really hyper and has been barking at the vet/ pulling on his leash at home he might have red eyes. However if he is having a mild allergy or has a mild upper respiratory infection I would be more concerned. I would recommend taking him back to the vet so they can check them out well and help determine the cause. Also, i bet the vet would like to know that sam eyes are not normal since he left

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be a very non-specific sign that does not mean much as it could be transient. However, this is sometimes seen in patients that are overall sick as a sign of illness. Because it is possible that this does not necessarily mean that he is sick, I would continue monitoring him for now. If he develops any other signs of illness such as lethargy, inappetence or vomiting, have him evaluated then. Hopefully, this is nothing serious. Good luck!
