Why is my dog's eye watering, discharging, and eyelid swollen?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 1 year old | 30 lbs

I have noticed in the last few months that my dog's left eye has days that water more than normal. about 3 months ago i took him to a vet who examined him and said it was just an allergy. the vet gave me a medicine to apply to my dog's eye for 10 days. I noticed that it has improved, but from time to time the eye has a small abnormal discharge. Today I realized that the skin that covers his left eye is slightly larger than that of his right eye. I'll send the photo so you can see.

I see what you are talking about. Sometimes this can be related to inflammation but there could be another reason like a foreign object trapped under the skin or a blockage in the tear duct. I recommend to have Doggie Marley examined again since this is a new development. Make sure to show the vet the picture. It looks like this is progressing so try to get it figured out quickly. I hope this helps.

    I love your group picture! This is an upsetting story. The last picture shows your dog not even opening the left eye. To be honest I recommend a second opinion regarding their eyes. Since it has been going on since birth it could be a congenital issue like entropion (curling in of the eye lashes) or eye lashes that are growing abnormally contacting the eye. I highly recommend having them checked by another vet for a second opinion especially for the dog closing the left eye. That indicates pain.

It sounds like this might be due to an allergy or autoimmune problem given the response to corticosteroids. Sometimes the lymph tissue associated with the third eyelid can become enlarged and I’m wondering if that is the case with the right eye, but it’s difficult to say without being able to examine in person. If the symptoms are not resolving with treatment you may want to ask your vet about referral to an ophthalmologist.

Why is my dog's swollen red eye opaque, smelly, and discharging?
Olini needs to see a vet as soon as possible. Potential causes for the sudden change that you see in the eye include severe conjunctivitis, corneal ulcer or abrasion, glaucoma, uveitis, and trauma. I can't quite tell from the picture, but it may be proptosed ("popped out"). If you have an emergency vet clinic open near by, this would be a case that I would advise seeking emergency care.

My dog's eye is swollen, weeping, with discharge. Saline didn't help. What now?
Eyes are sensitive. If the saline solution does not help after 24 hours, it is unlikely to help. At this point, Tyson needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. He could have an eye infection, a foreign object trapped under the eye lid or a scratch on the cornea. These conditions are all painful so don't wait. My dog has a watery eye and inflamed eyelid. What should I do?
It is really hard to say for sure. I would recommend taking her to a vet for a good exam. Since it is her eyes that are affected it is important to make sure she does not need medications/eye drops to resolve the issue. If it is related to allergies you can try an over the counter anti histamine and possibly place a warm compress on the eyes 2 times a day to help remove debris and decrease inflammation. I would recommend a check up by your vet - it looks like the third eyelid is inflamed (common with viral infections) and may be developing a cherry eye. In the meantime, bathing with sterile saline eye wash may help keep the eye fresh and clean and reduce any discomfort

Considering the description of the signs and the pictures, there is a severe inflammation of the eyelids probably with secondary infection. Allergic reaction or trauma are possible as well. I would recommend an immediate check up as eye integrity and functionality must be assessed. Antibiotics may be needed.
