My dog has a watery eye and inflamed eyelid. What should I do?

  Poor girl! You can try some artificial tears twice a day to see if that helps to flush out her eye. If she isn't improving or worsens then you may need to talk to your vet about prescribing an antibiotics drop. I hope this helps.

If you think that there is an eye infection, you can try and use a product from Petco such as ( ) and apply to the eye twice daily until resolved. If the eye worsens or does not improve, then I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.   Poor Majic! Unfortunately, if the eye is infected, there is nothing you can buy over-the-counter that will help - eye infections require prescription antibiotic drops to treat. You can try rinsing the eye with plain saline eye wash and using a soft washcloth or cotton ball to wipe away any discharge, which may help make her more comfortable until you can get her in to see a vet. If costs are an issue, you may want to look for a low-cost SPCA clinic in your area, or apply online for Care Credit (a payment plan accepted by most vet clinics): www.carecredit.com

  It seems that there is swelling in the lids rather than just the eyes, so I am not sure that topical eye antibiotics will help. Over the weekend, you can use warm compresses several times a day in addition to your current ointment until Mimi can be seen by the vet. I would also discuss the frequent recurrence of her eye issues, since there may be an underlying cause, like allergies or abnormal eye hairs, causing her issues.
