My 6 year old yorkies left eye is swollen & has a lot of crud underneath it & yesterday morning I woke up and her eye was shut so I quickly washed her and she was okay. But I don't know what to do about it being swollen and treating it??

It sounds like Hercules could have a mild conjunctivitis. Unless he had direct contact with the other dog it's unlikely he caught it from him. Allergies are a common cause as well. If the discharge is clear it could be normal for his breed as Yorkies can commonly have epiphora (tearing). However, if he's rubbing at his eyes, the discharge is yellow or green, or the whites of his eyes are red, it could be an infection and he should see a vet. He may need eye drops in order for it to clear up. Good luck!
