Why is my dog's eye pointing outwards and what should I do about it?

If you posted a photo it did not come through. What you are describing though sounds urgent. It is strongly recommended that you get Charlie to a vet ASAP to have that eye examined. You don't want him to lose vision or possibly the eye! I hope this helps. Best wishes.

I'm worried about proptosis (eye has popped out of the socket) or glaucoma. Both are emergencies. I recommend that you take Princess to the emergency room. Good luck!

This is a condition known as ventrolateral strabismus, which indicates that the there is damage to either the muscles or nerves that are attached to the eye ball. This can happen with infections, trauma, or tumors. It's best to have Nelly seen by a vet sometime soon, so they can check her for any life-threatening problems that can be potentially treated. Great question and great observation! I would recommend taking Charley to the vet where they can stain the eye to look for scratches. This is very hard to see without a stain. They can also look under his third eyelid for any foreign bodies that could be stuck there. Lastly, they will need to look with a magnifying glass to see if there are fine, difficult to see hairs that are causing irritation to the eye. It isn't normal for the eye to flare up every few months. If all that is normal you and his vet can discuss possible allergic causes. Good luck and kisses to Charley!

Horner's syndrome does not cause any harm and there can be multiple causes. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Buffy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Ear infections can lead to this syndrome and trauma as well. If Buffy managed to run into something or fall and hit her head, this could also have lead to the syndrome. This will likely resolve on its own over the next week or so.
