My dog is looking up, blinking, and won't move. What's wrong?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sofie, I am sorry she isn't feeling well! Sadly the symptoms you are describing are non-specific and can indicate many things. Lethargy, not moving and keeping the eyes closed indicates that Sofie is sick. She could be painful or have a fever. Almost anything can cause the symptoms she is exhibiting ranging from Lyme disease, to cancer, to kidney failure, to nausea, etc. I recommend that Sofie be examined by a Vet today. Hi there. This sounds more like a focal seizure, or some abnormal activity in her nervous system. Not responding to any stimulus indicates that her nervous system is overloaded and she cannot respond. The length of time the episodes are lasting is also concerning. I would recommend finding a veterinary neurologist to take her to. Your local vet may be able to make a recommendation. I would also try and take of video of her when she is having an episode to show the neurologist. I hope that helps and good luck with your pup. It is a little difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like one of Charlie's eyes is looking upwards and is protruding slightly. This can be caused by damage to the nerves or muscles that control the movement of the eye, glaucoma, or a mass behind the eye. i recommend having Charlie seen by a vet as soon as possible, as eye conditions are frequently painful and can quickly turn into emergencies. In the meantime, you can get him an E-collar or "cone" to make sure that he does not scratch or rubt he eye, causing further trauma. I hope this helps and that all is well with Charlie!

Her eyes look squinted in the photo, and perhaps have a moderate amount of clear discharge. It is concerning that she is reluctant to move, as this can be a sign of pain, fever, nausea, or several other symptoms. Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Both eyes look quite painful! It appears that there is a severe corneal ulcer on the left eye but hard to say for sure for the right eye. The ulcer appears to be a melting ulcer, which is quite severe. These eyes need the care of an eye specialist and further treatment. Many times, drops alone won't be enough to treat the eye. I would consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

This could even due to weakness from perhaps getting into something he should not have. For this reason, I recommend that you consider taking him to your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It sounds like Hooch is having neurologic issues. This is quite concerning. I would go ahead and have him evaluated at this time to see more in detail what he may have and see what the treatment would be like. I am hoping for the best!
