My dog is drooling excessively after sneezing, but seems fine. Vet?

Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Excessive sneezing like this could be a sign of foreign material in the nasal cavity (sometimes a piece of fluff or plant material can get stuck), or potentially a nasal polyp, tumor or infection. If this extreme sneezing continues I'd recommend having your vet examine Pilsner - they might recommend sedation for a nasal flush and exam.

I recommend to have Jasper examined by the veterinarian. Repeated sneezing means irritation and this can be uncomfortable (think about when you get a cold). The doctor can provide medication that can help with inflammation. While infections are the most common cause, a piece of grass or other object stuck in the nose, a fungal infection or a tumor in the sinus can also cause a runny nose and sneezing. This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or eventually to a persistent rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately if the signs persist more than 12 hours. Antibiotics may be needed. It's possible Lily snorted something up into one of her nasal passages and she's trying to clear it out by sneezing and you just can't see it. It's also possible she's having some trouble with allergies. Lymph nodes don't usually get swollen with allergies though. Before you give her Benadryl I would check in with your vet first to make sure it's not something more concerning. Also, you don't want to mask the symptoms with Benadryl if there is something else going on. Good luck and I hope Lily feels better soon!

Hello. If your puppy's symptoms seem pretty stable, & she continues to eat & drink normally, then it will be OK to wait a couple of days to have her seen. But if things worsen, especially if she stops eating or develops any diarrhea, then see if you can have her seen tomorrow. I would watch it for 24 hours. Hypersalivation can be caused by many different things, including nausea, licking something that tastes bad, difficulty swallowing, oral pain, among a few others. If Harvey starts vomiting or is refusing to eat or drink, he should be seen as soon as possible. If the hypersalivation is still going on in 24 hours, he should also be evaluated by a vet.
