Why is my dog drooling excessively but acting normal? Vet or wait?

Hypersalivation can be caused by issues swallowing, nausea, or dental disease. Sometimes, twigs or sharp objects can get logded between the teeth or in the palate, so you can take a look in Kola's mouth if he will allow it safely. Unfortunately, their is no "quick fix" as the cause is not known. If you believe that Kola is having trouble swallowing (dribbling water, unable to swallow food) he should be seen immediately, as he may aspirate and can develop pneumonia. Otherwise, you should monitor him closely and have him seen as soon as possible.

If Hoyt does have two teeth cutting through at the moment, then the drooling certainly can be caused by that. Without seeing him person, however, I can't say that for certain. Given that he isn't acting any differently, I would monitor him for tonight, and if the excessive drooling continues through until tomorrow, then I would have him seen by a vet for a health check. Should he start act differently and shows other signs such a vomiting and lethargy, then I would take him into a vet ASAP.

Hello, this could be associated with ingestion of any caustic chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide. Teething can also cause this although by 7month old he should have he adult teeth, however each dog may differ in timing. Having something stuck in his mouth can also cause this. The salivation could also be a sign that he is feeling nausea and may want to vomit. Monitor him for persistent hyper salivation, vomiting, a decreased appetite or lethargy and have him evaluated by a veterinarian if he develops any of these. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Excessive drooling can be a sign of nausea, eating something toxic or bitter, tooth problem (such as infection), or a salivary duct blockage, among other things. If the excessive drooling continues, Scoopy should be seen by a vet to determine what's causing the drooling. However, if it has already resolved then you can simply monitor Scoopy for any further symptoms.

I would worry that there could be an abscessed tooth or maybe something stuck in the mouth where you want see if. Harley needs to see the veterinarian for an exam. The doctor may need to sedate Harley to look for something stuck in the mouth. If nothing is seen, Harley needs dental radiographs to look for an abscess. Both these conditions can be painful so I would take Harley in quickly. Hope this helps!

Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Poor Lola. Unless she is foaming at the mouth, there is excessive drool from her mouth, vomiting, refusing to eat, or acting abnormal then I would watch her closely. If the drool is continuing tomorrow or becomes excessive, then I would consider taking her to your emergency vet. Drooling can be a sign of toxin ingestion but they usually are drilling excessively and it isn’t just from one side of the mouth. She could be drooling due to nausea, a tooth problem, oral ulcers, tumors in the mouth and much more. Your vet will be able to help determine the cause if she continues. I hope this helps.
