My dog drips urine after peeing when excited. Is it a health issue?

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I recommend taking Teddy in to the vet for a senior health assessment. Discuss your concerns with the vet and they may recommend some bloodwork or other diagnostic testing. Some cases of incontinence can benefit from medications. While it will not be a cure it can greatly improve the episodes. In some cases, dogs may inappropriately urinate or defecate if they are experiencing cognitive dysfunction. Medications or diets can also help with this, especially if he is in good shape physically. In the meantime you may want to let Teddy out by himself and monitor to make sure that he is urinating and defecating before letting him back inside. He may be getting distracted by the other dogs.

I strongly recommend a full health check, urine test and possibly an ultrasound scan of the bladder to rule out infection, inflammation or bladder stones which may be causing discomfort, partial blockage of the bladder neck and pain. The earlier these conditions are diagnosed the easier they are to resolve

It sounds like he may have some trouble holding into his bladder, and that could be caused by him drinking a lot of water, or he could have a medical issue such as a UTI or bladder stones. If Bud isn't have urinary accidents, asking to go out more to pee, showing signs of urgency then he is likely "saving" up his urine to mark. He isn't neutered and is reaching maturity. If you see blood in his urine, he is straining or starts to have accidents then you should be concerned and have him seen. Have a good day!

Maisy may have a urinary tract infection or she may have a congenital defect with in her urinary system (ectopic ureter). I would schedule an appointment with your Vet and bring a urine sample for them to check for infection. I hope this helps and I wish Maisy a speedy recovery!

Some dogs will attempt to mark everything even when they don't have anything to void. If Jeter is not straining, I suspect he is just marking his territory. However, I would watch him and look at his urine color. If you notice straining (usually progressively becomes worth) or discolored urine (red or brown), he very could have a urinary tract infection or bladder stones. So monitor him and follow up with your veterinarian if you notice any symptoms.
