My 8-week puppy is always wet with pee. Is it a UTI or excitement?

Some puppies are just fascinated by water and drink constantly regardless of thirst. The 25 ounces is about double what Wallace needs per day, dog’s typically drink 1-2 ounces per pound. If she is having small frequent accidents in the house and going frequently outside with straining and small amount that is not normal. If it is larger amounts in the house if could be a lapse in house training. If the above applies of increased frequency, urgency and straining Gracy may have a UTI. I recommend having her seen by your Vet and bringing a urine sample to have it checked for bacteria. We treat UTIs with antibiotics. I hope this helps and I wish Gracy a speedy recovery!

She may have a urinary infection or a puppy vaginitis. I recommend having a urinalysis done and an exam to see if there is a medical problem. Puppies do urinate frequently but if this is abnormal for her then please get treatment so it doesn’t worsen. Usually a course of oral antibiotics will be prescribed. While it is normal (although frustrating) to have “good” days and “bad” days while house training a puppy, the episodes you describe may be an indication of something more serious, such as a UTI. This is definitely possible if Phoebe is straining to urinate, urinating small amounts, or has reddish colored urine and if you notice her licking her vagina more frequently. They tend to grow out of puppy vaginitis. Sometimes they need antibiotics if they are urinating small amounts frequently. I would set up an appointment with your Vet for an exam. I would try to collect a urine sample for the appointment. First wipe the vulva with a baby wipe or a slightly soapy towel (rinse) before collecting. I hope this helps!
