How often should I give my dog dorzolamide and timolol for glaucoma?

The general answer to your question is yes. The caveats are that Timolol comes in 2 different strengths, so you need to make sure that the combination product is the same strength that he is currently gettting. The other thing you need to discuss with your veterinarian is that since he is getting Dorzolamide 3 times a day and Timolol only twice daily is if you will still need to keep a separate bottle of Dorzolamide for the 3rd daily dosing. I would follow the instructions - it sounds like your vet wants one medication (I'd guess Ofloxacin) to be given more frequently. Although it says every 8 hours you can plan to do it three times a day spread over waking hours. You will need to wait 10 minutes in the morning and evening to maximize absorption.

Withholding water or any fluids for 3-4 hours after giving the glycerin can increase efficacy & hopefully you will not need the second dose, but if it does spike again, give the second dose. make sure you contact your vet first thing tomorrow morning.

Twice a day usually means every 12 hrs. Since this is a very small amount of tramadol, you can give her the second dose this evening. FIgure out when you get up in the morning, say 7 AM, then give it to her this evening at 7 PM, or if you get up at 9AM, give it to her at 9PM tonight. No- they are not working against each other and no- the Optimune did not cause it. The Optimmune increases the body's tear production which keeps the clear part of the eye-the cornea- moist. If it gets dry- it suspectible to injuries & gets secondary changes. Glaucoma is caused by increase pressure in the vitreous (the ball part of the eye) which is different than the tears. The tears are external and the vitreous internal. Hope that makes sense. Sounds like you have a great vet who is treating Lanie well! Hello. Trusopt is used in the treatment of glaucoma, a multifactorial disease that results in increased pressures in the eye. If her sight is already gone, then this might be permanent, I'm afraid. If the pressures can be brought down, there is a small possibility that she may regain some vision, but there is no real time frame as so much depends on how long the condition was present before starting therapy & how much damage has already occurred. Stay in close contact with your veterinarian & hopefully with time ( a few weeks or so ), she may regain a little of her vision back.
